India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma is on the target of several franchises ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As per the reports in RevSports, it is learned that Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are keen to acquire the services of the opening batter in their team for the league.

The reports claimed that both Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have kept aside the purse of INR 50 crore only for Rohit Sharma. However, the franchises just want confirmation from the India National Cricket Team skipper if he will be leaving the Mumbai Indians ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Sharma's future with Mumbai Indians has been under serious scanner since the last edition of the Indian Premier League. Ahead of the league, the opening batter was removed as the captain of the team, and in his place, the franchise appointed Hardik Pandya as the captain.

This raised quite a few eyebrows because Sharma captained Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. The franchise handed the responsibility to Hardik Pandya, who was traded from Gujarat Titans, having captained the new franchise for two years.

Several rumors sparked up that Sharma was unhappy with the way he was being treated. There were reports that also suggested that seniors of the team were also not happy with the way the all-rounder led the team and there was also a rift within the team with players arguing over the decisions related to the team.

Various reports also highlighted that Rohit Sharma wanted to leave the Mumbai Indians after the Indian Premier League 2024. The batter will reportedly be in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The batter also was having a conversation with KKR coach Abhishek Nayar in IPL 2024, where he was heard saying that it was his last season with the team as he created the temple.

Apart from this, Sharma has been a legend in the Indian Premier League. If he goes into auction then there is no doubt there will be a lot of teams interested in buying him. Not only for his batting skills but the leadership skills that he has. It remains to be seen what will be the future of the batter in the league.

After the tournament, Rohit Sharma also retired from the T20I cricket. He ended his career as the all-time leading run-getter with 4231 runs. The skipper finished with five hundred, the most by a batter in T20I cricket. He also hit 32 fifties and had a career strike rate of 140.
