Former off-spinner Pragyan Ojha feels that Rohit Sharma is yet to move on from the incident that broke the hearts of millions of Indians on 19th November.

Pragyan Ojha's comments on Rohit Sharma came after the Indian captain smacked one of the best-ever knocks in ICC T20 World Cup history. Rohit was the catalyst behind team India's dominating and thumping victory over bitter rivals Australia, a team that has given him a lot of grief in the recent past.

Rohit Sharma's terrific comeback after the 2023 CWC final

Last year, Rohit Sharma's Men in Blue were handed two back-to-back setbacks. If we look at his career closely, then Rohit never faced such conundrums in terms of winning trophies. In the Indian Premier League, he is the joint-most successful captain along with Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni with 5 IPL trophies.

Rohit Sharma's start to life as a captain was filled with roses and daffodils as he won Championships after Championships. But in the closing years of his cricketing career as the skipper, Rohit's route seems to be filled with horns. He had the chance of becoming one of India's greatest captains ever but Pat Cummins' Australian team denied him.

It will be fair to say that Rohit Sharma has been storing all his emotions for the big stages and he exploded just at the right time. Yesterday at the Darren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia, Rohit not only displayed his A game but also gave a glimpse of his destructive self which went missing.

More importantly, he showed all of us what could have happened on November 19th if Travis Head hadn't taken that diving catch. Rohit Sharma would have decimated that Aussies and India could have posted something more than 241 runs.

Nonetheless, Rohit Sharma played a pivotal role in India's presence in the ICC T20 WC 2024 semi-finals. They will face England in a replay of the 2022 T20 WC when the two teams met each other at the same stage. Back then the Three Lions had won the contest but will the Indians bring things back on level terms? That remains to be seen.

What did Pragyan Ojha say?

After seeing Rohit Sharma's desolation of Australia yesterday, Pragyan Ojha took to X (formerly Twitter) and expressed himself. He made a bold claim about Rohit not being able to move on from the World Cup final loss and that's why he channeled the anger in yesterday's knock.

Pragyan Ojha wrote that Rohit Sharma was able to showcase his dedication to win and determination to prove himself after the CWC finale loss. That Rohit is still wounded and is still hurt from what Australia did to them on November 19th, is the reason why the right-hander smacked a 41-ball 92-run knock at a strike rate of over 220.

"Who says men move on! Rohit, with his bat and commanding presence against Australia yesterday, epitomized his dedication from November 19, at Narendra Modi Stadium. Keep shining, Team India! We'll forever be proud of you!" - Pragyan Ojha wrote via X.
