After Rohit Sharma's standout knock in Adelaide and Sydney, his childhood coach, Dinesh Lad, on Saturday expressed his happiness and claimed the veteran batter would not retire until the 2027 World Cup. This was Rohit's 50th international century and his 33rd hundred in ODI.
"The way Rohit batted today and how he contributed to India's win-it felt great to watch today's match. He will play the 2027 ODI World Cup and retire after that," Dinesh Lad told ANI.

Rohit Sharma might claim the no. 1 spot, replacing Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill, the current Indian skipper, leads the ICC Men's ODI Batting rankings, as he is slotted at the top after his commendable performances in the format last year. However, Gill has been missing prime form since the Champions Trophy in the format.
After being named the skipper in Australia, Gill missed out on runs on his first tour as the captain of the Indian side. Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, stood firm as the highest run-getter in the format with 200+ runs and an average of over 100 in the series.
Rohit, who secured the second spot in the Rankings after his spectacular innings in the ICC Champions Trophy final, might now rise to the No. 1 rank, replacing the current Indian skipper. The ICC Rankings are yet to be updated.
