"Rome wasn't built in a day" - Yuvraj Singh shares special 'Abhishek Sharma' video after his blistering century

Legendary Yuvraj Singh, on Monday (July 8), congratulated Abhishek Sharma on his brilliant century against Zimbabwe in the second T20I.

After impressing in this year's IPL, the left-handed batsman earned his maiden India call-up for the ongoing five-match T20I series. And he did not have to wait for long to don the India jersey as he was given the chance to play in the very first game of the series. Abhishek Sharma opened the innings alongside captain Shubman Gill in the first game.

However, he had a forgettable debut as he departed even before opening his account. Well, it took him just hours to make amends for his poor show on debut as he scored a blistering century in the second game of the series on Sunday (July 7). The southpaw smashed a 46-ball 100 to lead India's charge with the bat. He scored exactly 100 runs with the help of 7 fours and 8 sixes.

With the youngster receiving praise from all around after his brilliant knock, Yuvraj Singh also made sure to congratulate him on the memorable knock. The former India batsman penned down a special message for the Punjab youngster and shared an amazing video where the youngster was seen training.

Taking to X, Yuvraj posted a video of Abhishek Sharma in which the latter could be seen working hard on his fitness and wrote: "Rome wasn't built in a day!

"Congratulations @IamAbhiSharma4 on the journey to your first International 100! Many more to come 👊💯," added the former cricketer.

India level series:

Talking about the second T20I, India beat Zimbabwe by 100 runs to draw level in the series. After suffering a shock 13-run loss in the series opener, India came up with a clinical effort in the second game to open their account.

Batting first, India lost the wicket of Gill (2) cheaply but quickly recovered thanks to Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The duo shared a big stand of 137 runs for the second wicket. After Sharma's departure, Gaikwad and Rinku Singh helped India post a mammoth total of 234/2. Gaikwad scored 77 off 47 while Rinku smashed 48 from 22.

In reply, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 134 runs with only Wessly Madhevere (43) touching the 40-run mark. For India, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan picked up 3 wickets each.
