RR Full Squad, Team List, Players List After IPL 2024 Auction

Rajasthan Royals (RR) headed into the IPL 2024 auction with a remaining purse of just 14.5 crores. They needed 8 players to complete a squad of 25 players including three overseas players. They finished fifth in IPL 2023 after making it to the finals of the IPL 2022 season.

The Royals will continue to be led by Sanju Samson who has done a good job at the helm in the last few seasons. Despite his limited opportunities in international cricket, he continues to be the man RR management trusts with the captaincy.

He along with Jos Buttler, and the Indian spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal are the pillars of the side. In Adam Zampa and Trent Boult, they have two top-quality overseas bowlers of different disciplines. Yashasvi Jaiswal is their designated opener along with Jos Buttler. They have good Indian pacers in Kuldeep Sen, Navdeep Saini, and Prasidh Krishna.

They have a side where they have retained their best XI. Like every franchise, they too would like to add more muscle in every department. They potentially need backups for Jaiswal and for their overseas bowlers. Roping in good middle-order batters will also be one of their concerns.

All the players released include names like Jason Holder and Joe Root. Root has opted out of the IPL 2024 season. Murugan Ashwin and Obed McCoy are the other two players released. The Royals have invested more than 85 crores in the retention of their players. They had the lowest purse available in which to get the remaining 8 players.

After the Royals won the inaugural IPL title in 2008, they made their next final in IPL 2022. In between they played relatively poor cricket and were amongst the teams who did not make it to the final four that often. However, since 2022, they have started to come into the reckoning again. After a disappointing performance last season, RR will look to prove a point.
