Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling coach Dwayne Bravo opened up about the batting position of MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that the keeper batter is happy to play the finishing role and wants to give other guys opportunities.

There have been lots of talks about the batting position of MS Dhoni in the ongoing IPL 2023. The keeper batter has looked in good touch but hasn’t come to bat early, which many aren’t in favour of.

In the last few seasons, Dhoni used to bat at 5 or 6 but this year he has demoted himself and often comes to bat at 8. The reason behind this has been the kind of power hitters they have in their lineup. Apart from the one game against Rajasthan Royals, he hasn’t played more than 10 balls in this innings.

Dwayne Bravo said that MS Dhoni is happy to give opportunities to the likes of Shivam Dube Ravindra Jadeja and Ambati Rayudu and enjoys taking the responsibility of finishing the innings. Speaking to the reporters, he said:

“That is the position he has to bat. Everyone is batting higher than him and he takes that responsibility and ownership upon himself to bat lower down the order because the likes of Jadeja, Rayudu, and Dube, he wants to give these guys as many opportunities as possible. He is happy to just play the finishing role.”

Chennai Super Kings are one of the top teams in the ongoing IPL 2023. They are at the top of the points table with 10 points to their name from 5 games. It’s fair to say that a few more wins will almost certain their spot in the playoff and they would be eager to do that.

Dwayne Bravo said that the morale of the team is very high. He said that they now need to continue the momentum and keep winning the games.

He added: “The CSK morale is very high, and that has nothing to do with the results. We are a team that is normally very level irrespective of whether we perform well or not.

“But it is always better when we are doing well. So far, we have started the season on a positive note and we just have to keep the momentum and keep winning cricket games. Tomorrow’s game against RR is going to be a very hard game.”

Chennai Super Kings will be next seen in action when they will take on Rajasthan Royals in their next game on Thursday (27th April).
