Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO Venky Mysore has cleared the air about the viral conversation between the former Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma and KKR’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, saying it had nothing to do with the Indian captain’s association with the team.

Mysore’s comments came after the rumors gained momentum that Rohit and Abhishek were talking about the Indian skipper’s possible entry to the KKR camp next season. However, KKR CEO Venky denied any such talk and revealed that the very good friends were talking about something else.

Is Rohit Sharma leaving MI?

Actually, ahead of the recent IPL 2024 match between MI and KKR in Kolkata, a viral interaction between Rohit and Nayar has sparked widespread speculation. The clip of their interaction gained a lot of attention on social media, and then KKR reportedly deleted it only to add fuel to the speculations.

In the video, Rohit can be heard discussing a 'change' with Nayar, and even the Indian skipper mentioned that "it's his last" during his conversation with the KKR’s assistant coach. This has left fans speculating if Rohit could really leave MI or whether he is joining the Kolkata team next year.

Rohit can be heart saying: “Ek ek cheez change ho raha hai...Woh unke upar hai...Jo bhi hai woh mera ghar hai bhai, woh temple jo hai na maine banwaya hai(Everything is changing one by one... It's on them... Whatever, but it's my home brother, it's the temple that I constructed). Bhai mera kya mera to ye last hai (brother, this is my last anyway)”.

Meanwhile, in an interaction with RevSportz, KKR CEO Venky Mysore downplayed the issue by saying both Rohit and Nayar have been good friends for a long time and they were just talking normally. He further said that someone intentionally tried to create mischief.

Venky Mysore said on the podcast: “I didn't even know about it, I think it's just a storm in a teacup. They have been good friends since god knows how long and someone has done something there just to create some mischief. I talked to both of them, they were talking about something else. Some people just have too much time on their hands.”

Well, the five-time champions MI will be playing their final game of the IPL 2024 against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on May 17. It could be Rohit’s final game for the franchise, as earlier a report claimed that he didn’t want to even practice with Hardik Pandya. MI won only 4 matches from their 13 outings in the tournament so far.

Notably, Rohit Sharma and Abhishek Nayar share a long-standing friendship from their days playing domestic cricket for Mumbai. Nayar is also credited with contributing to Rohit's comeback into the Indian cricket team after he was overlooked for the ODI World Cup in 2011.
