Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Ravichandran Ashwin didn't have the kind of outing he would've wanted in the game against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The 38th game of the tournament between the teams is underway at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Ravichandran Ashwin struggled to get going with the ball against the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2024. The off-spinner didn't look in good rhythm as he was taken for runs as well by the Mumbai Indians batters in Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera.

The off-spinner tried different things but didn't work for him as Nehal Wadhera and Tilak Varma slammed him all over the park. What caught the attention of many was when Ravichandran Ashwin came up with a double jump action. However, this too didn't bring him success.

Here's the video:

Ravichandran Ashwin failed to take any wickets in his spell. After the pacers set up the tone for the team, it was expected that the off-spinner would keep things tight. But Mumbai Indians batter saw him as a scoring opportunity and got some quick runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin returned with the figures of 0/32 in his four overs. As he went wicketless in the game, the off-spinner achieved an unwanted feat to his name in the history of the T20s. He also went wicketless in the last few games that he played for the Rajasthan Royals.

This was for the first time in his T20 career since 2007 when Ravichandran Ashwin went wicketless in six consecutive matches. During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, he also had a similar feat as he went wicketless in five games.

While Ravichandran Ashwin couldn't take a single wicket, Sandeep Sharma had a dream outing with the ball. The off-spinner, who made a return after injury, made sure that he made an immediate impact. He picked a fifer as Rajasthan Royals restricted Mumbai Indians to 179 runs.

I’m happy to do well but I will be more happy if my team wins - Nehal Wadhera

Nehal Wadhera, who scored a crucial 49 runs with the bat, talked about his innings with the bat. He stated that he was mentally prepared to play the game. He was delighted with the way he batted but added that he would be even happier when his team won the game.

Nehal Wadhera also talked about his 99-run stand with Tilak Varma (65), stating that he enjoyed batting with the latter. While talking about the same, he stated:

"It’s a really good opportunity. Finally, it came, I’m happy to do well but I will be more happy if my team wins. We lost of couple of wickets early on, and my duty was to wait for the loose balls, we had done it together in the previous season and we had the confidence in ourselves to do well again, hoping our team crosses the line and wins.

"When we usually have practice sessions, I turn up on the ground early. I used to go early with Surya bhai and we used to play like match simulation, that gave me confidence that although I’m not playing a match, it feels like playing a match in practice. It’s amazing to bat with him the fun and banter also keeps going in between, the way he batted is also commendable, credit to him," he concluded
