Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has mocked the Punjab Kings fielders for their expensive catch drops of Virat Kohli when the batter was at 0 and 10.

Those failed attempts proved to be the game-changing moment in the tie between Punjab Kings and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Punjab could have easily sent Virat Kohli to the dressing room cheaply but the crowd at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala saw the wrath of Kohli. He played out a sensational man of the match-winning knock of 92 which paved the way for RCB's 4th win on the trot.

What did Aakash Chopra say about Virat Kohli's dropped catches?

While speaking on his later YouTube video, Aakash Chopra mocked and joked about Punjab Kings fielders' failure to hold on to some simple catches. The hosts had the chance to get Virat Kohli out for a duck in just the 2nd ball of the 1st over but Ashutosh Sharma failed to convert that chance into a wicket.

Virat Kohli had sliced an out-swinging ball by Vidwath Kaverappa toward the cover region but Ashutosh wasn't able to hold on despite putting in a decent dive. In these crucial matches, a fielder must convert half-chances into wickets.

Then in the 5th ball of the 3rd over, another catching opportunity to get Virat Kohli out for 10 runs, went begging as Rilee Rossouw dropped another at covers. What followed afterwards was sheer carnage by the former RCB captain who made the Punjab fielders regret their misfielding.

Virat Kohli then went on to smack a fantastic 92 runs off just 47 deliveries at a scary strike rate of 195. But Kohli wasn't the only batter who punished Punjab after getting his catch dropped. Rajat Patidar, before he scored 55 off 23 at a 239 strike rate, was dropped for 0 in only the second ball of his innings.

Thanks to those misses, RCB went on to post a mammoth total of 241 on the board which Punjab failed to chase down and got knocked out of IPL 2024.

In the context of Punjab's dropped catches, Aakash Chopra took a hilarious dig at the players. Chopra asked the Punjab players if they forgot to wash their hands after eating Paranthas with a lot of butter since the players slipped a couple of catching chances.

Aakash Chopra then slammed the Punjab Kings for their child-like fielding and claimed that they lost the match after dropping the catches.

"Kohli opened and it seemed like the Punjab players ate paranthas with a lot of butter and then forgot to wash their hands. Who drops so many catches? Everyone was dropping catches - easy, easy catches. As the saying goes, if you drop so many catches, you drop the match." - Aakash Chopra said in his latest YT video.

Aakash Chopra applauds Virat Kohli for his sensational knock

Aakash Chopra then heaped praise on Virat Kohli for the kind of knock he played last night against Punjab. The most questionable thing, according to expert pundits, was his strike rate but he made amends yesterday and batted throughout at a 190+ rate. Chopra claimed that Kohli's innings were worth watching and that everyone should congratulate the latter for his batting brilliance.

"So Kohli scored 92 runs off 47 balls at a ferocious strike rate of 195. Dharamsala's hills are super cool and Virat Kohli in this match was paisa vasool (worth the money). How well he batted, everyone should applaud him along with me." - Chopra concluded.
