Yashasvi Jaiswal, on Wednesday (May 15), failed to get going with the bat as he was clean bowled by Sam Curran in the ongoing game between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

With Jos Buttler returning home to prepare for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan and the T20 World Cup, Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to open the innings with Tom Kohler-Cadmore. The onus was on the left-handed batsman to give the Royals a good start after their skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first.

Yashasvi Jaiswal started on a positive note by hitting the first ball of the game for a four. However, Sam Curran bounced back in style by dismissing the Royals opener three balls later to give his team the early breakthrough. It was a length ball from the PBKS captain that moved in at the last moment. Yashasvi Jaiswal went for a drive but ended up inside edging the ball to the stumps. After picking the wicket, Curran went on an aggressive celebratory run.

At the time of writing this report, the Royals were on 27 for 1 in the fourth over. The Royals will be desperate to win the ongoing game to return to winning ways and bolster their chances of a top-two finish. Not very long ago, they were looking set to finish the league stage at the top of the table.

They had won eight of their first nine games before suffering three games in a row. The inaugural IPL winners will also be looking to have momentum with them ahead of the playoffs. PBKS, on the other hand, are already knocked out of the competition and have only pride to play for.  The Punjab-based outfit would be looking to bow out of the competition on a winning note.
