"Rula diya..." - Suryakumar Yadav's heartfelt Instagram story for Ravichandran Ashwin post 500 Test wickets feat

Ravichandran Ashwin created history during the second day’s play of the third Test between India and England which is being played at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. Suryakumar Yadav congratulates Ravichandran Ashwin for reaching an elite club in Test cricket during the third Test of the five-match series between the two nations. Ravichandran Ashwin achieved a huge milestone after taking Zak Crawley’s wicket in England’s first innings as he entered the elite list of bowlers.

Ravichandran Ashwin has now completed 500 wickets in Test cricket and he is the ninth bowler in history to take 500 Test wickets and is only the second Indian to achieve this enormous feat. Before Ashwin, only Anil Kumble has taken more than 500 wickets in Test cricket for India. Anil Kumble has 619 wickets to his name in Test cricket. Suryakumar Yadav shared a heartfelt story on his Instagram to congratulate Ashwin and his family for the achievement.

Ravichandran Ashwin has played 98 matches in Test cricket and has taken 500 wickets at an average of 23.95 which is better than Anil Kumble. He has registered 34 five-wicket hauls in his career which also includes eight 10-wickets in a match. He is one of the best all-rounders of the game and is currently the No.3 bowler in the ICC Test rankings and the No.2 all-rounder. Ravichandran Ashwin made his Test debut against West Indies in the year 2011 and since then he has been a regular member of the Indian Test side with a really good record in the sub-continent.

Suryakumar Yadav who is currently injured and is in rehabilitation shared a story on his Instagram handle congratulating Ravichandran Ashwin on his achievement and wrote, “Ash bhai yaar rula diya apke smile ne (Ash bro your smile made me cry) Congratulations to you and your family.”

Ravichandran Ashwin becomes the latest edition to the 500 club in Test cricket

Ravichandran Ashwin is now the latest entry in the elite club of bowlers with 500 or more Test wickets which consists of bowlers like Shane Warner, Muttiah Muralitharan, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Anil Kumble, Glenn McGrath, Courtney Walsh, Nathan Lyon. He is the ninth in the list of bowlers to get to 500 Test wickets and has been brilliant with the ball in Test cricket. Ashwin is also the fifth spin bowler to get to this milestone.

India and England are facing each other in the third Test match of the five-match series at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot and the series is currently leveled 1-1. The first Test was won by England as they defeated India in Hyderabad by 28 runs but then India made a terrific comeback in the second Test defeating the visitors by 106 runs in Vizag.

India has not lost a Test series at home since 2012 when Sir Alastair Cook led the England team to a 2-1 victory against India in India. Since 2012, India has won 16 consecutive Test series at home and is expecting to win this one against England to make it 17 consecutive series wins at home. After the second day’s play, England is 207/2 trailing by 238 runs.
