Rumesh Ratnayake Appointed As Interim Head Coach Of Sri Lanka

Fast bowling coach Rumesh Ratnayake has been appointed as the interim head coach of the Sri Lankan team for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, the SLC confirmed on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce the appointment of Rumesh Ratnayake as the interim coach of the National Team for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour of Sri Lanka. Ratnayake is currently serving as a Fast Bowling Coach at the High-Performance Center,” the release from SLC read.

Ratnayake has played 23 Tests and 70 ODIs for Sri Lanka in a career spanning eleven years. He recently joined the national team as the fast bowling coach.

Ruvin Peiris appointed as batting coach

In addition to the appointment of Rumesh Ratnayake, SLC also stated that Ruvin Peiris is taking over as batting coach for the series. Mahela Jayawardene, who is functioning as the Consultant Coach, will join the U-19 team in West Indies for the U-19 Cricket World Cup.

“In the meantime, Ruvin Peiris was appointed as the ‘Batting Coach’ of the National Team for the series against Zimbabwe. Peiris is attached to the High-Performance Center as a ‘Batting Coach.’ His appointment is also an interim arrangement,” SLC added.
