While speaking on sports.dynamic.global, Sreesanth said, "Gautam, you're the coach. Don't stop anyone—especially RO-KO. Rohit and Virat's record is exceptional. Let them play as long as they want because they are a thousand times better than most of the players currently playing. I just want to wish RO-KO all the very best. Please don't stop these brilliant legends. Gautam, take care."
Rohit Sharma's ODI record
Rohit Sharma has been a brilliant opener for India, especially in white-ball cricket. He has been called the master of Daddy Hundreds for his exceptional record of scoring three double hundreds and also big hundreds in the 50-over format of the game. He remains the greatest ever ODI opener for India.
Rohit is just one century away from recording the most centuries as an Indian opener; he has scored around 9,727 runs in the ODI format as an opener for the Men in Blue side and is just behind the great Sachin Tendulkar who has over 15,000 runs in this format as an opener.
Virat Kohli is still India's reliable No.3
Virat Kohli is already the batter with the most ODI centuries, with 54 centuries beside his name. He just needs 133 runs in the next 75 Innings to become to become the fastest to 15000 runs in ODI. He can achieve the milestone in the third ODI with a big hundred at Lord’s.
Kohli has been India’s best No.3 batter in this format, and he is totally irreplaceable in this format given his composure and excellent record in the 50-over format. The batter recently played a knock of 65 runs in the last game against England and has been India’s best batter in the last few series in ODIs.
Will Virat Kohli follow the path of Rohit Sharma?
Rohit and Kohli have been the stalwarts of Indian cricket for over years. These two have provided some of the best match-winning partnerships between them in the ODI format. They now have over 8000 runs in partnership between them in this format.
There have been talks from former cricketers that Virat Kohli could also take retirement if Rohit Sharma retires after the Lord’s game. Before the ODI World Cup 2027, there have been clouds over their career and the Indian dressing room has been under huge turmoil.
