SA vs AUS: CSA In Talks With Quinton de Kock Over Missing India Series For BBL 2024

Cricket South Africa (CSA) is in talks with Quinton de Kock over missing India vs South Africa series due to participation in Big Bash League 2024. India vs South Africa series is set to take place in December 2023 and Big Bash League 2024 also takes place around the same time.

Quinton de Kock is part of Melbourne Renegades team in Big Bash League 2024. The Australia’s T20 franchise league will be played from December 7 to January 24.

India tour of South Africa 2023 begins on December 10 and concludes on January 5. A three-match T20I series, a three-match ODI series, and two Tests will be played during the campaign.

Quinton de Kock has already retired from Tests and will pull the curtains down on his ODI career after the ICC World Cup 2023 in November. However, he is still active in T20Is for South Africa. Hence, he might make himself unavailable for the T20I series against India in December, which clashes with his BBL 2023-24 contract.

According to reports from ESPN Cricinfo, Cricket South Africa (CSA) is in talks with Quinton de Kock over his possible absence from India vs South Africa series. Kock has made himself available for Big Bash League 2023-24. Hence, it is expected that he might skip the T20I series against India.

De Kock will make his debut in Big Bash League in the next season for Melbourne Renegades. Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper-batsman has announced his retirement from ODI post ICC World Cup 2023.

The 30-year-old already retired from Tests in 2021. He will also bid goodbye to ODIs post ICC World Cup 2023 in October-November. Hence, T20I will be the only format in which he will be active for South Africa.

The T20 format will become a focus next year as the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is set to take place next year. The tournament will be played in West Indies and USA.
