The 28-year-old South Africa National Cricket Team pacer Kagiso Rabada dismissed the 28-year-old Sri Lanka National Cricket Team star batsman Kusal Mendis in the fourth match of the ICC Men???s Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, October 7.
Chasing a gigantic target in the match, Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka got out for a duck. The dismissal led to the arrival of the wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis in the middle and he came out all guns blazing.
He played an attacking brand of cricket and smoked the Proteas bowlers all over the park to frustrate the South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma. No bowler was able to stop Mendis as he hit some beautiful-looking boundaries and completed his fifty off 25 balls.
He then kept batting brilliantly and looked set for a daddy hundred. Unfortunately, fans were unable to see the fourth century of the match as Mendis was cleaned up by the premier pacer Rabada in the 13th over.
The 28-year-old right-arm pacer bowled a back of a length delivery outside off-stump and the batter looked for the cut but ended up edging it behind the stumps. The ball went towards wicket-keeper Klaasen, who completed the catch easily.
After taking the wicket, Rabada brought out an aggressive celebration and he went berserk with it while the batsman was standing in disbelief after getting out. The wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis smashed a sensational 76 runs off 42 balls, with 4 fours and 8 sixes, during his breathtaking innings.
