SA20 2024: Teams Announce Preliminary Squads Ahead Of Auction On September 27

The SA20 2024 preliminary squads have been announced for the second season of South Africa’s most prominent domestic T20 league. Sunrisers Eastern Cape are the defending champions of the tournament having won the inaugural season defeating Pretoria Capitals in the final last year.
The second season auction will be held on September 27th with all the franchises looking to acquire the home-grown South African domestic players. The top names from South African cricket have all been retained with a few renowned players released as well.
For Season 2, each team has a salary purse cap of R39.1 million – an increase of R5.1 million from last season. There will be 15 auction picks available across the six teams, in addition to the new Rookie player to be added to the squad. The rookie player should be under 22 and should have not played in the SA20 league before.
“Season 2 of the Betway SA20 is shaping up to be another spectacular showcase of world class cricket and entertainment. The quality of the players already included in the squads, including a few newcomers, is testimony to the success of the inaugural season. Our planning is on track and we look forward to the auction and welcoming players and fans in Season 2,” said Graeme Smith the SA20 League Commissioner.
Every team must have a total of 19 players including a minimum of 10 South African players a maximum of seven international players and an additional new rookie player who must be South African. The auction will be held on September 27 which will be broadcasted live on SuperSport.
