SA20 2025 schedule announced: Sunrisers Eastern Cape to face MI Cape Town in thrilling opener

The SA20 2025, one of the best leagues going around, is all set to kickstart on 9th January. Defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape will take on Mumbai Indians Cape Town in the opening game of the third edition of the tournament at St George’s Park.

In the second game, Durban’s Super Giants will be hosting Pretoria Capitals at Kingsmead on January 10th. Paarl Royals will be in action on 11th January as they will take on Sunrisers Eastern Cape. After that, Joburg Super Kings will be taking on Mumbai Indians Cape Town on Sunday.

The league stage of the SA20 2025 will conclude on 2nd February, and after that, it will be time for the playoffs. The playoff structure remains the same as it was in the second season. Top four teams in the table will qualify for the playoffs. The playoffs will be played across three venues this season, with Gqeberha and Centurion set to host the playoffs.

The 1st and the 2nd placed teams will play Qualifier 1, while the teams finishing third and fourth will play the Eliminator. The winner of the Eliminator will play the loser of Qualifier 1 for a place in the final.

Qualifier 1 will be played on the 4th of February, followed by Eliminator to be played on the 5th of February. The Qualifier 2 is slated to take place on 6th February. The final of the SA20 2025 has been slated to take place on February 8 at the iconic Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

The fixtures were unveiled in Johannesburg and attended by Betway SA20 League Commissioner, Graeme Smith, players from the six franchise teams, key stakeholders, and the media, as the excitement builds towards 9 January.

League Commissioner Graeme Smith talked about the SA20 2025, saying that they are expecting season 3 of the league to be much bigger than the last two seasons. He believes that the addition of big names in Kane Williamson, Ben Stokes, and Dinesh Karthik, among others, will help the local players as well. He stated:

"Season 3 is set to be bigger and better, with a fantastic line-up of matches that will captivate our fans. We’re thrilled to start the season in Gqeberha with our defending champions and look forward to an action-packed summer of cricket.

"As we welcome international talent to the roaring pool of local stars, we aim to deliver an unforgettable experience for both players and fans alike."

Sunrisers Eastern Cape, owned by India-based Sun Group, which runs Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, are the defending champions. They have won both seasons of the tournament and would be hoping to complete the hat trick of wins in the tournament. On the other hand, the rest of the teams would want to make an impact and stop the defending champions.
