Sunrisers Eastern Cape players Sisanda Magala and Craig Overton have been ruled out of the second season of Cricket South Africa’s SA20 league. The Sunrisers Eastern Cape team announced on their official social media handle on Monday, January 8.
The Cape team clinched the SA20 championship in the inaugural edition by defeating the Pretoria Capitals in the final with a four-wicket victory. The Aiden Markram-led team secured the third position with a record of four wins and five losses in the league-stage matches.
The Gqeberha-based franchise triumphed over the Joburg Super Kings by 14 runs in the semi-finals of the previous edition of. The team went on to beat the Pretoria Capitals in a low-scoring encounter. Spinner Roelof van der Merwe earned ‘Player of the Match’ for his 4/31.

Medium pacer Sisanda Magala, who was the second-highest wicket-taker for the Cape in the previous edition, secured 14 wickets in 12 matches with an average of 24. All-rounder Patrick Kruger has been named as the replacement for the injured Magala in the squad.
