The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) immortalized Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara’s names by naming gates, which are used to enter the play area, at the stadium after them. This came on the former’s 50th birthday on April 24, 2023.
The two great batters became the first non-Australians to be commemorated by having a part of the stadium to be named after themselves in the country.

The gates are located between the away dressing room and the Noble Bradman Messenger Stand. Seeing that Pakistan are expected to be the first team to walk through these gates during the New Year’s Test match in 2024, during the Australian summer.
SCG can be considered Sachin Tendulkar’s favorite ground outside India. He has scored 785 runs in just five Test matches at the stadium, with an average of 157 and the highest score of 241.

Ricky Ponting reflects upon comparisons between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli
Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has reflected on frequent comparisons made between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, says that the latter still has several years ahead of him.
Ever since Kohli came into his stride as a batter in the mid-2010s, comparisons with Sachin Tendulkar have been few and far between. Virat is also second in the all-time list of centuries in international cricket with 75, behind Tendulkar’s 100.
In an interview with The ICC Review, Ricky Ponting named Master Blaster as the best batter he played against, he also commented on how Virat Kohli’s career compares with Sachin’s, saying –
“Virat’s got all that ahead of him just yet. He’s an unbelievably good player, there’s no doubt about that. He’s got over 70-odd international hundreds now. Sachin made a 100, didn’t he? Let’s wait until Virat’s career’s over and then I think it’ll a much fairer comparison.
