Master Blaster has fond memories of this stadium. Exactly 25 years before the stand’s name changed, Tendulkar brought in the ‘Desert Storm’, back-to-back centuries against Australia in the 1998 Coca-Cola Cup.
He scored a staggering 143 on April 22, followed by 134 on his 25th birthday in the aforementioned tri-series, which also featured New Zealand.

“I wish I was there but unfortunately I had prior commitments. Playing in Sharjah has always been a magnificent experience. From the electrifying atmosphere to the love, affection and support, Sharjah has been a special venue for Indian cricket fans and lovers of the game from around the globe.”

Sydney Cricket Ground names a gate in honour of Sachin Tendulkar and Brain Lara
The iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) has named gates, which are used to enter the playing field, after legendary batters Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. This, like the stand name at Sharjah, came at the former’s 50th birthday.
The two greats became the first non-Australians to be commemorated by having parts of a stadium to be named after themselves.
The ‘Sachin Tendulkar-Brian Lara’ gates are located between the away dressing room and the Noble Bradman Messenger Stand, to be used by visiting teams to enter the ground. The current schedule tells us that Pakistan would be the first team to use these gates during the New Year’s Test match in January 2024.
Sachin Tendulkar also has fond memories of the SCG, having scored his iconic 241 in 2004. He has scored 785 runs in only 5 Tests at the stadium, with an awe-inspiring average of 157.
