Sahibzada Farhan has once again returned to the headlines as the Pakistan batter brought back memories of creating a lot of noise for hitting Indian pace superstar Jasprit Bumrah in the Asia Cup 2025.

Even though Pakistan had a disappointing Asia Cup 2025 campaign as they lost all matches to India, Sahibzada Farhan was celebrated for hitting Bumrah for sixes. During the subcontinental tournament, Farhan had managed to hit three sixes off Bumrah—two in the group match and one in the final. Those shots had made him a superstar, especially in Pakistan.

Not just that, Sahibzada also featured in a documentary where he talked about dominating Bumrah and hitting him for sixes, for which he was mercilessly trolled by fans on social media.

Now, after more than six months, Farhan has once again spoken about the same. He shared how facing a bowler like Bumrah is never easy, but those sixes gave him confidence.

Sahibzada Farhan said in a video shared by ESPNCricinfo: “Speaking about Bumrah, I don’t think there was only Bumrah in that (Indian) team. All of them were some of the best bowlers, like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. So, it’s not that there was only Bumrah.”

The Pakistani opener further noted, “But I started with Bumrah. You get confidence as a player when you hit a good player for a six. If you look at him, he gave me a tough time in the beginning. He was doing slower ones, yorkers, and bouncers.

He swings the ball and bowls outswing and inswing. It’s natural that it’s very difficult to play him. So, you have to find your way. When you cross that thing, you pass that thing. Then the rest of the bowlers seem easy to you, I think.”

Since India and Pakistan play each other only in the multi-nation events, it poses a challenge to the players to play each other, and even Farhan also admitted that Bumrah tested him with slower balls, sharp yorkers, and rising bouncers.

To tackle this challenge against Bumrah, the Pakistani opener shared that he prepared himself mentally for every ball, and he also felt that his experience of playing tape-ball cricket helped him a lot. Farhan shared, “I found it difficult in the first match.

He is famous for his yorkers and can bowl them at any time, so I was ready for that. I was very focused when facing him. Everyone is extra focused when it is India-Pakistan. My experience of playing tape-ball cricket helped me. I have faced bowlers with weird actions who bowled slower ones and yorkers in tape-ball cricket. So that helped me.”

Sahibzada Farhan shares how he prepares for the match

Sahibzada Farhan follows a simple yet smart routine before every match. Farhan revealed that he studies videos of opposition bowlers given by the team analyst, Talha Ejaz, usually the night before the game and understands how bowlers use different variations at different stages.

And even before the match, he practices in the nets just like a real game situation so his body feels ready, and his plan is always to attack the main bowler early and put pressure on the attack.
