Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj's father dismisses engagement reports with Rinku Singh

Rumors about the potential engagement between young Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj began circulating on social media handles. However, Priya's father, Tufani Saroj, publicly denied the claims, dismissing them as untrue and adding a new twist to the speculation.

Rinku Singh has quickly made a name for himself in Indian cricket. He has scored 562 runs across formats since his debut in August 2023. He played a key role in Kolkata Knight Riders' title-winning campaign. He was also among the reserve players for the team that won the World Cup under Rohit Sharma.

Priya Saroj in Thiruvananthapuram for Work, Clarifies Tufani Saroj

Tufani Saroj, a three-time Member of Parliament (MP) and current Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kerakat, Jaunpur, clarified that the engagement had not taken place. Tufani also stated that Priya is currently in Thiruvananthapuram for work, and the reports about the engagement were incorrect.

"Priya is in Thiruvananthapuram at the moment for some work and no, her engagement with Rinku Singh has not happened. Yes, the talks are on between the families but the news of engagement is completely wrong," Tufani told India TV Digital.

This revelation comes amidst reports about Rinku and Priya's engagement. Reports suggested that Rinku's family reached out to Priya's brother-in-law about a marriage proposal. However, neither Rinku nor Priya has made any public comments, leaving fans guessing regarding the engagement.

Priya Saroj is a lawyer and a first-time Member of Parliament (MP) for Uttar Pradesh's Machhlishahr constituency, having won the 2024 elections by a 35,000-vote margin. The 26-year-old politician comes from a politically influential family but initially aspired to be a judge before entering politics.

Rinku Singh to Feature in India’s Five-Match T20I Series Against England

Rinku Singh is set to feature in India's upcoming five-match T20I series against England, starting on Wednesday, January 22. This series is part of India's preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The series will begin in Kolkata, with subsequent matches scheduled for January 25 in Chennai, January 28 in Rajkot, January 31 in Pune, and the final game in Mumbai on February 2. After the upcoming T20I series, Team India will also play three ODIs against England before the Champions Trophy.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against England, featuring key players like Rinku Singh, Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, and Mohammad Shami, who is set to make an international comeback.

Meanwhile, Rinku Singh is unlikely to feature in the India squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 despite receiving backing from several cricket fans and experts like Sanjay Manjrekar. India's ODI squad is more or less settled and with the emergence of Karun Nair, Rinku's selection becomes even tougher.
