Ravindra Jadeja Called a 'Bits and Pieces' Player by Sanjay Manjrekar
In 2019, Sanjay Manjrekar called Ravindra Jadeja a "bits and pieces" player. He argued that Jadeja wasn’t a complete all-rounder in ODIs, stating he was more of a specialist bowler in Tests.
"I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner," he had said (via India Today).
Manjrekar faced heavy criticism for his remarks about Jadeja. Jadeja has been a key player for India, featuring in 80 Tests, 204 ODIs, and 74 T20Is. He has amassed 3,370 Test runs with four centuries and 22 fifties, along with 323 wickets, including 15 five-wicket hauls.
The all-rounder has scored 2,806 runs in ODIs with 13 half-centuries and taken 231 wickets. He has amassed 515 T20I runs and picked up 54 wickets before retiring from the format after India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph. Jadeja remains an integral part of India's Test and ODI squads.
