India's wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has finally opened up on his favorite batting position in white-ball cricket. Samson recently smacked a scintillating hundred against Bangladesh in the third T20I of the three-match series while opening the innings.
However, his batting spot is still not fixed with India's regular openers being unavailable in that series. But Samson gave a good account and has presented a strong case for himself through that knock.

Sanju Samson breaks silence on his preferred batting spot in T20Is
Sanju Samson was interviewed by the sports journalist Vimal Kumar. During an interaction on the journalist's YouTube channel, Sanju Samson was asked about his preferred batting position in T20I cricket.
The star wicketkeeper-batter from Kerala responded that he would like to bat as soon as possible to utilize the maximum no. of overs available for him.
"Jitna jaldi batting aa jaye utna accha hai (the sooner I get to bat, the better it is)," Samson said in the video.
Clearly, Sanju Samson has hinted at batting higher in order to have the maximum no. of balls to bat. Usually, He has a great record while batting at the top order. Recently, he was given the opening spot in all three T20Is against Bangladesh.
Sanju Samson's scintillating hundred vs Bangladesh
Samson failed to get a big score in the first two T20Is and registered scores of 29 and 10. Coming into the third T20I, Samson was under huge pressure to perform and keep his place in the team.
The talented right-hander delivered at the right time and slammed his maiden T20I century at Hyderabad to silence his critics. Samson smashed a blistering 111 off just 47 balls, which included 11 fours and 8 sixes.
As a result, India smashed a mammoth 297-6 in 20 overs. In reply, Bangladesh were reduced to just 164-7 and India went on to win the match by 133 runs. Samson was adjudged Player of the Match for his performance.
Over the years, Samson has been given numerous opportunities by the selectors but he has failed to cement his spot. He has possibly batted at every position in T20I cricket but wasn't able to fix his place.
Sanju Samson in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad
Samson missed out on India's squads for the T20 World Cup in 2021 and 2022. However, he was a part of India's squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Samson did not get a game as Rishabh Pant was India's first-choice wicketkeeper in the tournament.
But India lifted the trophy on a historic occasion with Samson in the squad as well. With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma having retired from T20Is, Samson will be looking to perform more consistently and make a permanent place for himself.
Samson is the captain of his IPL team Rajasthan Royals. He bats at No. 3 for the team and has performed well over the years. He has the ability to make full use of the powerplay restrictions and then unleash his brute power against the spinners.
