India star Sanju Samson has reacted to former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara using his bat while playing in village cricket.

Sanju Samson and Kumar Sangakkara share a close bond because of their association at Rajasthan Royals. In January 2021, Samson was appointed the captain of the Royals while Sangakkara was roped in as the Director of Cricket. Both of them have been plying their trades in the same role since then. The pair has been very successful for the Royals so far.

In 2022, the Royals qualified for the final for the second time and first time since winning the inaugural season way back in 2008. In this year's IPL, the Royals started brilliantly and qualified for the playoffs although they could not go all the way.

In a recent video posted by Rajasthan Royals, Kumar Sangakkara revealed that Sanju Samson had gifted him a couple of bats and thanked him for that. In the same video, the legendary Sri Lankan cricketer also cheekily reminded Yuzvendra Chahal of the promise he had made.

"In my, in my village cricket, I have two of Sanju's bats. He was very kind to give me two of his bats because I have no memorabilia, no bats lying around the house, nothing. So I had to start from scratch," said Kumar Sangakkara.

"Yuzi, if you're watching this, remember you had promised me some SG kits as
well so remember. I am waiting for that as well," he added.

Soon after Rajasthan Royals posted the video, Sanju Samson came up with a heartwarming reaction to it. Sharing the video on his Instagram story, the Royals captain wrote: "Kumar Sangakkara using my bats!! HAHAHA...ITS A DREAM!!"

A few memorable months for Sanju Samson:

The last few months have been very memorable for Sanju Samson. The right-handed batsman not only impressed in the IPL but also made it to India's World Cup squad for the first time in his career. In the IPL, he was the fifth-highest run-scorer, scoring 531 runs with the help of 5 fifties.

The fine show in the IPL helped him get a spot in the India squad for the T20 World Cup. Team India went on to win the tournament last month. After the T20 World Cup, Samson played in the last 3 games of the recently-concluded 5-match T20I series against Zimbabwe and scored a fine fifty in the last game. He is expected to be seen in action next when India tour Sri Lanka later this month.
