Shardul Thakur aka Lord Shardul was the hot topic of discussion among fans during the England-India Test series. The word ‘Lord Shardul’ was seen trending on social media during the series whenever Thakur played the games.
Notably, the 29-year-old got the opportunity to represent India in two games against England. And in both the games he had an amazing performance. During the first match, he didn’t do much with the bat. However, with the ball, he picked 2 wickets each in both innings.
Meanwhile, after that, he got the opportunity to play in the 4th Test match at The Oval and he owned The Oval. He looked outstanding in that match scoring fifties in both the innings and picking 3 wickets in the match including the wicket of Joe Root. Notably, the fifty he smashed in the first innings was from 31 balls. Which is the fastest half-century by a player in Test cricket in England.

During a chat with The Indian Express the right-arm pacer was questioned; Are you happy with the new nickname ‘Lord Thakur’?.
To which, Thakur replied that he enjoys his Lord Shardul memes on social media. Also, he told that he don’t mind having such names. Shardul Thakur asserted:
“These memes are all over social media. I enjoy it. It shows how much love I’m getting from all quarters. I don’t mind such names. Somewhere, I feel I haven’t achieved anything yet, and I don’t want to be in such a position where I feel to be satisfied.”
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old further added that he has seen days where fans on social media condemned his existence in the squad. He also added that he wants to be remembered as someone who made an impact whenever he played. Shardul Thakur elaborated:
“I have seen days where the same social media has cursed my presence in the team. For me, what matters is down the line, I want people to remember me as the guy who, whenever he played, made an impact in the game and we won it.”
