Shaheen Afridi To Take Up Pakistan's Vice-Captain's Role As Shadab Khan Is Likely To Be Axed - Reports

Pakistan Cricket Team has been under the spotlight ever since the Asia Cup 2023 concluded. Things haven’t been in their favor ever since they faced a massive 228-run loss against India in the Super Four stage and then lost to Sri which eliminated them from the tournament.

The atmosphere in the dressing room is also not good as reportedly there has been a rift between the players. Skipper Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi were engaged in a verbal spat after the team was eliminated from the Asia Cup 2023. If this was not enough they have injury scares as well in the team.

Their Premier pacer Haris Rauf is injured whereas Naseem Shah has been ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2023. To worsen the case more, Shadab Khan too has come under scrutiny and is on the verge of getting sacked as vice-captain and getting dropped from the team.

The reports in Ghavev have suggested that Shadab Khan’s poor performances with bat and ball have hampered his chances and he might not even get picked in the squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. In his place, Shaheen Afrid is likely to be given the vice-captain’s role.

It is also learned that Pakistan is likely to recall Hasan Ali into the team for the ICC World Cup. The pacer hasn’t been part of the setup for a while. But the injury to Naseem Shah might open doors for him. The reports added that there’s Imad Wasim is still not in contention. Whereas Saud Shakeel is almost certain of traveling to India for the ICC major event.

The reports have also revealed that Pakistan squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. In place of Naseem Shah, it is likely that Zaman Khan will also be there in the team. The pacer bowled well in the Asia Cup 2023 and impressed many with his death bowling. Shadab Khan albeit is under scanner but is likely to make it into the team.
