Shakib Al Hasan Gives Different Dynamic To Team But Sunil Narine Is No Different: KKR Skipper Eoin Morgan Backs Windies All-Rounder Ahead Of Their IPL 2021 Game Against SRH

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan feels that Shakib Al Hasan and Sunil Narine are no different. Kolkata Knight Riders bought Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan during IPL 2021 auction. With Shakib Al Hasan’s induction in the squad, KKR has the option to substitute Sunil Narine in the playing 11 during IPL 2021.

Last season in IPL 2020, Sunil Narine had a very poor show with just 5 wickets in 10 matches. Also with the bat, he played 9 innings and only scored 121 runs at an average of 13.44.

Since Shakib Al Hasan also shares a similar profile of being an overseas all-rounder in the Kolkata Knight Riders squad, he can replace Sunil Narine in IPL 2021. However, KKR captain Eoin Morgan defended Sunil Narine’s importance in the team.

Sunil Narine and Shakib AL Hasan Are No Different: Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan feels that Sunil Narine can win the situations in big moments of the game. “Shakib and Sunil are no different. In big moments of the game, particularly last year, you would throw Sunil the ball or you would get him in with the bat because he has been in that situation over and over again. He believes in himself and in the team to go and get through and win that situation,” the English cricketer said.

While speaking about Shakib Al Hasan, Morgan said that he gives different dynamics in the team and can definitely deliver if called upon. “Given that we have a bit more travel this year and we go from venue to venue, it’s important to have strength and depth in the squad. Shakib Al Hasan gives us a different dynamic in the team.

“Given that we play at different venues where the conditions change quite a lot, you have a spin-bowling all-rounder who had success in international cricket and IPL at different stages. If called upon, he can definitely deliver,” Eoin Morgan further said.

Kolkata Knight Riders start their IPL 2021 journey on Sunday (April 11) in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The match is scheduled to be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Kolkata Knight Riders finished on the 5^th spot last season, while Sunrisers Hyderabad finished on the 3^rd place on the points table. David Warner will lead the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021.
