Former West Indies player turned current coach of the West Indies National Cricket Team, Daren Sammy, has opened up on his views over the recent allegation made against the star cricketer who is part of the current squad that takes on Australia for the test series.

As per reports from a local Guyanese news network, multiple women made claims of alleged offences against a West Indies cricketer, whose name has not been named here. Some offences have been claimed to date back to 2023.

Daren Sammy didn't cover up the situation but rather stressed that justice should be served to all, and he extended his support towards a fair process and the right system to be followed.

"One thing I could say is that we believe in justice. We are a community that believes justice must be served. However, there's a process. We will continue to support in whatever way we can to make sure that due process and the right system is followed. As a cricketing board, for me as the head coach, I want justice for everyone," said Darren Sammy to reporters in Grenada.

Guyana News reports claim 11 cases of sexual harassment against a West Indies cricketer

A report made on the 27th of June by a Guyanese news handle named Kaieteur News served a devastating statement made against a current player, allegedly, Shamar Joseph, in the West Indies squad. Shamar Joseph, who was seen in the first test against Australia has been accused by 11 women of sexual offences.

Among the first reports claimed was by an 18-year-old girl, who alleged Shamar Joseph of forcibly raping her and also made claims over the Guyanese law enforcement who tried to suppress the case.

This was followed by a flurry of reports from several other women who came forward with proof like screenshots, medical filings and more against Shamar Joseph.

"Cricket West Indies has not received any communication or official information and is therefore unable to comment at this time," said a spokesperson from Cricket West Indies on the heinous incident.

Daren Sammy was displeased with the third umpire's uncanny decisions in the first test

West Indies' current coach, Daren Sammy, was recently fined by the ICC for misconduct during the first test at Barbados. Daren Sammy was displeased by the decisions made by the third umpire.

One of those incidents occurred on Day 1 of the first test when Australian batter Travis Head was given not out after an under-edge from his bat was disallowed, as the ball was said to have bounced before the wicket-keeper gloved it. Head played a vital role in building crucial runs for Australia.

The next patch of wild decisions came during the West Indies batting innings when an almost disgusting call for LBW was given out against the West Indies skipper, Roston Chase.

This followed another wicket of Shai Hope, which was also a result of an uncanny decision from the third umpire; as a result of all these, the West Indies coach seemed displeased.

Is the West Indies pace attack rebuilding under Daren Sammy?

Daren Sammy is one of the most veteran players for the West Indies; he was considered a very flexible all-rounder and one of the greatest skippers in the history of West Indies cricket. Sammy is the second skipper from the nation, after Clive Lloyd, to have won two World Cup titles.

The West Indies, a nation known for its speedsters, has lost the charm of pace bowling in recent years; however, this time, ever since Daren Sammy took over the coaching role, the performance of pacers has seen a significant rise by international standards.

The likes of youngsters like Shamar Joseph, Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales have made their names as impressive quicks and have given some results off to Sammy's side, the most significant of them being their historic win in the Gabba Test.

This is to be seen in the coming years if Sammy can revamp the dangerous pace of attack from the island nation.
