Former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed has lambasted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for dropping Babar Azam from the team in the middle of the series. Tanvir feels that Babar shouldn't have been dropped this way and called it a disgrace.

The newly elected selection panel of the PCB recently made a shocking decision to drop Babar, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah from the second and third Tests between Pakistan and England.

The move came as a huge shock and many former cricketers and experts have criticized the board for dropping such an important player of Pakistan. Babar is arguably Pakistan's most high-profile cricketer with the most fan following across the country.

Just like various cricket experts in Pakistan, Tanvir Ahmed was also disappointed with the board's decision to drop Babar Azam from the last two Tests against England. Tanvir took to social media and expressed his displeasure at this decision.

"Sharam ani chahiye babar azam ko series k beech main ghar bhej diya ye nahi hona chahiye tha ye buhat ghalat howa babar azam ki bezati ki gaye ha (The PCB should be ashamed to drop Babar in the middle of a series. This shouldn't have happened and this is a disgrace)," Tanvir posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Former cricketers speak on Babar Azam's omission

Tanvir Ahmed has been a vocal critic of Pakistan cricket and has commented on various important aspects in the past as well. He has also used derogatory comments against former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan also slammed the PCB for dropping Babar and called the decision "Absolutely Stupid". Meanwhile, Saeed Anwar, former Pakistan opener advised Babar to stay strong at this time of his life and encouraged him to work harder.

Babar's teammate Fakhar Zaman also came out in his support and claimed that Babar should be backed since he is Pakistan's premier batter.

Babar Azam's poor form

Babar is going through the worst phase of his cricket career. The star batter has not registered a fifty-plus score in his last 18 Test innings. In the last 18 innings in Tests, Babar has scored 366 runs at an average of just 20.33 with the highest score of 41.

Along with him, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah were also dropped from the squad for the second and third Tests against England. All three of them are possibly the most high-profile cricketers in Pakistan but have been woefully out of form, especially in red-ball cricket.

The next Test between Pakistan and England will be played in Multan from October 15-19. The third Test of the series will be played in Karachi from October 24-28.
