Sheffield Shield 2021-22: Will Sutherland Tests Positive For COVID-19; New South Wales vs Victoria Match Postponed

Australia’s domestic tournament Sheffield Shield was affected by covid-19, and a match had to be postponed. An encounter between New South Wales and Victoria was postponed after the latter’s teammate Will Sutherland tested positive for covid-19. During the routine checkup, Will Sutherland tested positive for covid-19.

New South Wales vs Victoria match was scheduled to be played on November 19 (Friday). Will Sutherland’s health results arrived just an hour between the toss of the New South Wales vs Victoria match. After the Victorian pacer tested positive, the whole Victorian team was sent into isolation. Now, all the players of the Victoria team have undergone covid-19 tests and awaiting the results.

Will Sutherland Tests Positive For Covid-19

In an official statement, Cricket Australia (CA) informed everyone about Will Sutherland’s health updates and mentioned that the Victoria team is under self-isolation currently. CA also mentioned that they will provide further updates on the matter later.

“In the course of routine Covid-19 testing, Will Sutherland has returned a test result which requires further analysis. The Victorian team is currently self-isolating while this analysis and investigation takes place. Cricket Australia will provide further updates in due course. The Victorian team is now following the results while further outcomes are monitored”, ESPNcricinfo quoted Cricket Australia (CA) in a statement as saying.

This is the first match of the Sheffield Sheild 2021-22 that has been affected by covid-19. New South Wales vs Victoria was the 11th match of the tournament.
