With the Wuhan virus infiltrating the Indian camp ahead of the 2nd T20I in Sri Lanka, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has added Ishan Porel, Arshdeep Singh, Sandeep Warrier, Sai Kishore, Simarjeet Singh to the squad.
All the aforementioned names had traveled with the main squad to Sri Lanka as net bowlers but with as many as nine Indian players deemed unavailable for the second T20I, the BCCI was forced to add them to the main squad.
The last 24-36 hours have been utterly chaotic for the Indian cricket team and its supporters with different media outlets reporting different names of the players who came in close contact with Krunal Pandya.
Krunal Pandya tested positive for the virus on Tuesday morning and it led to the postponement of the second T20I which was originally scheduled to take place later that day.
The BCCI, in its press release, revealed that the final two T20Is will now be played on July 28 and 29 besides adding that as many as eight players have been found as close contacts to Krunal.
The eight close contacts were tested in the evening and while all of them returned negative, they will not be available for the second T20I later today.
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan is likely to lead the playing 11 after reports confirmed that he wasn’t one of the eight players who came in close contact with Krunal.
It remains to be seen through which players India will miss in the second T20I. India currently lead the three-match series, having won the first game by a comprehensive margin of 38 runs.
