CSK hard-hitter Shivam Dube had a brilliant IPL 2023 scoring 418 runs in 16 matches to cap off his best season in the league so far. He scored three fifties this season and scored at a strike rate of 160.
CSK became champions of IPL 2023 with MS Dhoni lifting the title for the fifth time as captain. Dube had a big part to play in the win with Ambati Rayudu retiring from the IPL after winning his third title with the franchise.
Over the years, some of the most renowned national and international players have played for CSK and played their part in helping CSk win five titles, Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey, and Shane Watson. Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo, Muttiah Muralitharan and some of the most renowned overseas players to have played for the franchise.
Meanwhile, among the Indian players, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Harbhajan Singh, and Robin Uthappa have played for the franchise. Dube recently picked his best CSK XI featuring the best players to have played for Chennai Super Kings. CSK’s official Instagram handle shared the video of Dube’s selection of players.
Dube decided to open with Matthew Hayden and Michael Hussey. He then slotted Raina at three, Rayudu at four, Dhoni at five, Jadeja at six, Bravo at seven, and Albie Morkel at eight.

He then chose his bowlers and decided to go with Lakshmipathi Balaji, Harbhajan Singh, and himself as the fourth all-rounder option in the star-studded team. He missed out including Deepak Chahar in the XI who has an impressive record playing for CSK. Chahar however was quick to react to his post on Instagram.
“@dubeshivam next year as bowler khelega hum kaha jaege? (Next year you will play as a bowler so where do I fit in?),” Chahar wrote in the comment section of the video featuring Dube.
“@dubeshivm sabse pahle next year tere or mera match hoga 1 over ka I will bowl 1 over to you you bowl 1 over to me let’s see who wins and take the spot? (We will play a match of one over each next year, whoever wins, takes the spot),” Chahar added.
Dube responded by leaving one spot in his team vacant.
“@deepak_chahar9 tere liye maine abhise spot chod diya hai,kya tu tabki baat kar raha hai (I have already vacated a spot for you),” he wrote.
In response, Chahar said that he wants the match against him and not the spot. “@dubeshivam nahi muze match chahea spot nahi (No, I want the match)” replied Chahar.
