Shoaib Akhtar Gives A Warning To India Ahead Of ICC World Cup 2023

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has been making a lot of headlines even when the tourney is 7 months away. India have the wood over Pakistan in World Cup which Pakistan is yet to defeat in the WCs. Shoaib Akhtar backed Pakistan to outclass India in the upcoming edition. Shoaib Akhtar also made a statement on the verbal spat with BCCI & PCB.

Skipper Babar Azam has had a pretty good 2021 & 2022 T20 WC where Pakistan almost won two back-to-back championships where he stood behind his bowlers in tough times. The problem with Pakistan is that they don’t have a reliable middle order and they are too much dependent on Babar Azam.

Shoaib Akhtar on India

Shoaib Akhtar was having an interaction with Sports Tak and made a stunning statement on India vs Pakistan clash and was asked about BCCI & PCB conflict.

“I want an India vs Pakistan final, whether they are playing in Mumbai or Ahmedabad. “2011 ka badla lena hai is baar (Want to avenge the loss of 2011 semifinal).” said Shoaib Akhtar.

“These are trash talks. Neither BCCI or PCB can do anything in this matter. BCCI can’t do anything without asking the Indian government. Our board also can’t do anything without consulting our government. Everyone gives their opinion when it comes to the India-Pakistan tie. I have a request to all the former players from both sides; please stay away from making unnecessary comments.” he added.

Concerns for ICC

ICC must intervene in BCCI & PCB matters because the two nations have a huge pedigree & riveting league. PCB Chairman Najam Sethi’ stance is clear when he made it clear that they won’t come to India for OD WC 2023 if India doesn’t play Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan.

PCB would be aware of the fact that if they boycott ODI WC 2023 then they could be banned from the sport. The two nations would be hoping that their boards find a middle ground. We witnessed an enthralling T20 WC 2022 clash between the two teams which just enlightened the tourney.
