The India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025 resulted in several controversies between the players from both sides. It marked Haris Rauf mocking the Indian crowd with obscene hand gestures; on the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav's statement has also caught the attention of the fans as well as the authorities.
All these actions have been triggered as an aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which led to a war-like situation between the two nations. India launched Operation Sindoor, and Pakistan also counterattacked.
Haris Rauf fined 30% of his match fees; Sahibzada Farhan was warned
Pakistani seamer Haris Rauf has been fined 30% of his match fees for his 'rude and aggressive behaviour' during the game against India in the Super-4 match. The seamer had gestured the infamous 6-0 signal, as he indicated towards Pakistan's claim of having shot down 6 fighter jets of the Indian Air Force.
On the other hand, Sahibzada Farhan, who had made a gun celebration with his bat following his fifty against India, has been left with a formal warning. Both players attended the ICC's disciplinary hearing on Friday afternoon alongside their team manager, Naveed Akram Cheema.
The TOI sources had revealed that both the players, Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan, had pleaded not guilty to the charges of the provocative conduct that was brought against them.
Suryakumar Yadav also received a major financial penalty from the ICC
Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav has also been fined 30 percent of his match fees after he was asked for an explanation regarding the statements in the post-match presentation after the September 14th game, which triggered the PCB to file a formal complaint, as per a report in TOI.
However, Suryakumar Yadav's statements have not been cited to trigger any political controversies by the BCCI; hence, they have also filed an appeal against the financial sanction imposed upon the Indian skipper.
India and Pakistan players avoid ban ahead of Asia Cup Final
Having won all their matches in the Asia Cup 2025, the World Champions, India, have qualified for the finals of the continental championship. India, on their way to the finals, has already defeated archrivals Pakistan twice in the tournament.
Pakistan has also been the second-best side, losing only two games against the Men in Blue but winning against all other opposition. They are also through to the finals after having won against Bangladesh in the final group-stage game.
Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf has been fined heavily alongside the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav, but they have been fortunate enough to have not received any bans ahead of the much-anticipated final between India and Pakistan.
