In match no.36, it was another high-scoring game between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), as the Orange Army chased down the total of 229 to defeat the Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium and etched their names in the fourth-highest successful run chase in IPL history. They sealed a victory by 5 wickets.
SRH won the toss and elected to field first, as Pat Cummins came back to the side and led the side to their fourth victory in a row. He missed half of the season, and he will be a happy captain after this thumping win over the Royals. The fans came in large numbers to this venue.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scores a brilliant ton
After being invited to bat first, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi went on a rampage, hitting from the very first ball. He took charge against Praful Hinge, who picked up his wicket in their last meeting, dismissing him for a duck, but in this game, it was all Vaibhav as he smacked 25 runs in the first over of the innings.
RR lost the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal early, and Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel stitched a partnership of 112 runs between them, which helped RR to get to a good total. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored his second hundred of the TATA IPL, and his first this season, scoring 100 off 36 balls and smashing 12 sixes in the innings of 103 runs.
Riyan Parag yet again had a tough time, as the RR skipper could not take on the bowlers. Riyan Parag, despite the stage being set, was dismissed cheaply. After that, South Africa batter Donovan Ferreira played a blistering innings of 33 off 16 balls, and Shimron Hetmyer scored 11 runs, which helped the Royals post 228/6 in their 20 overs.
Abhishek and Kishan laid the foundation for run chase
Coming out to chase Travis Head departed early as Jofra Archer struck on the very first over of the match. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan then stitched a 132-run partnership for the second wicket; both batters scored fifties of 24 balls respectively. Abhishek scored 57 runs, and Kishan scored 74 in the match.
Then Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy’s 29 and 36 runs respectively sealed the match for the Orange Army as Salil Arora smacked a six to finish off the game with 9 balls to spare and helped SRH to win the game.
Dropped a few too many catches- Riyan Parag
Riyan Parag was upset with the catch drop of Ravindra Jadeja, which cost them the game. He also praised his bowlers, especially Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger, during the post-match presentation.
Riyan Parag said, "Dropped a few too many catches. Quality players like Abhishek, can't drop quality batters. Could have been better on the field. We've got to be clinical. Fielding plays a major part in that. We've got a day's break. Mentally refresh and come back the next day. We left 10-15 [runs] on the table. To be honest, they bowled well in the 18th and 20th.
"Executed their yorkers. Would've liked another 15 runs. [On Bishnoi's late introduction] There were two lefties, I thought me and Don had better chances to get wicket. Wicket was not spin-friendly, I just had to manage four overs. Didn't really go to plan. Different venues, different games, different ways to approach it. Don't know how Chandigarh will go," Riyan Parag concluded.
