Former India opener Aakash Chopra has picked his choice for the better all-format player out of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Both Gill and Jaiswal are amongst the two most talented players in the young generation of the Indian cricket team.
Both are seen as the future of Indian batting, especially after the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. While Gill is already considered an all-format player, Jaiswal is yet to make his ODI debut despite being highly impressive in the Tests and the ODIs.
One prime reason could be India's strong batting line-up which already has the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli at the top. With Rohit, Gill, and Kohli at the top order, Jaiswal is having a hard time getting into the ODI team.

Aakash Chopra picks the better all-format player amongst Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal
While speaking in his video on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra weighed in on Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal's batting abilities and picked the best option for an all-format player.
Chopra reckoned that Yashasvi Jaiswal seems to be a better all-format player than Shubman Gill given his ability to bat in different gears. He believes that Jaiswal will succeed in ODI cricket given his ability to score quickly in T20I cricket.
"There is no doubt that Shubman Gill is an excellent player. It remains to be seen for how long Yashasvi Jaiswal will be out of the ODI side because he is also a three-format player," Chopra said.
"If you compare him with Shubman (Gill), he (Jaiswal) looks more of a three-format player than him. The speed at which he bats in T20Is, it seems like he will succeed in the ODIs as well. In Test cricket, he scored 700 runs in a series (against England)," he added.
Yashasvi Jaiswal more suited to all formats currently, feels Aakash Chopra
Chopra further added that Gill is also a very talented batter but Jaiswal seems to be more suited to all formats currently.
"So, if you talk about the three formats, it seems like Yashasvi (Jaiswal) is more suited for that category as compared to Shubman Gill at this point. But Gill is also very talented and skillful as well," Chopra reckoned.
Shubman Gill has already established himself as a solid ODI batter for India. The 24-year-old has scored 2271 runs in 44 ODIs at an average of 61.37 and a strike rate of 103.46. In Tests and T20Is, he is slowly establishing himself as a mainstay in the team. Recently, he was appointed India's vice-captain in the T20Is and ODIs for the tour of Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal has an exceptional record in Test cricket. The left-hander has scored 1028 runs in 9 Tests at an average of 68.53. He has already scored 3 hundreds and 4 fifties in his Test career. In T20Is, Jaiswal has scored 723 runs in 23 matches at an average of 36.15 and a strike rate of 164.31. He was a part of India's T20 World Cup 2024-winning squad.
