India National Cricket Team captain Shubman Gill suffered an injury scare during the team's practice session ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Gill was struck on his right thumb while batting on Thursday, the second day of India's training after the squad assembled in Sri Lanka for the red-ball assignment.

As reported by journalists on the ground, he was attended to by the team doctor and received a band-aid on his right thumb while Gill was batting at the nets. The Indian team management will be hopeful that it is nothing serious, as he has been their best batter in the traditional format since taking over the leadership role in the England series.

Shubman Gill will be hopeful that he can bat for a long time in the nets ahead of the first match, as long as he can, as it will be helpful for the side and for him, as Sri Lanka will have some tough conditions to bat on with the pitches being slow and rank turners.
