Former BCCI selector Venkatapathy Raju has said that India didn’t win any World Cup titles under Virat Kohli which could have been the big reason behind the BCCI trying out a new captain for the limited-overs cricket.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) senior selection committee on Wednesday made a big announcement regarding Rohit Sharma getting a leadership role in all three formats of the game.

Virat Kohli was removed from the One Day Internationals leadership role and Rohit was given the permanent ODI captaincy and he was made vice-captain in Test cricket, also Rohit was previously appointed as T20I captain after Virat stepped down from his role following the T20 World Cup 2021.
Virat Kohli’s run as One Day Internationals captain was sensational as he had the win percentage of 70 which is the best by any Indian skipper in the history of ODI cricket. He led India in 95 games and won 65 games.
Meanwhile, now Kohli’s entire focus will be on his batting and on leading the team in red-ball cricket. On the other, Rohit will be looking forward to clinching the World Cups in the upcoming years.
Ravi Shastri Had Said That Virat Kohli May Give Up The ODI Captaincy – Venkatapathy Raju

Meanwhile, the former BCCI selector has opined that the decision to appoint Rohit as the new captain is not a bad decision by the management. He added that former India head coach Ravi Shastri has hinted at Kohli stepping down from ODI captaincy as well after Kohli relinquished T20I captaincy. Raju also said that there should be no dispute in the Indian team after the captaincy change.
“I don’t think so, Ravi Shastri [ex-coach] had said that Virat may give up the ODI captaincy. So, discussions have happened. I hope this is taken in the right way. There should not be any problems in the team. Since we did not win any World Cup titles under Kohli, the BCCI may have thought of trying out a new captain,” Raju was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.
