Former Pakistan captain Aamer Sohail has taken a sly dig at Pakistan fast-bowler Naseem Shah while commentating during the ongoing Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
Pakistan have done well to recover after making a poor start with the bat. In reply to Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 312 runs, Pakistan were reeling at 101 for 5 before Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman steadied the ship. The duo went on to share 177 runs for the sixth wicket before the latter departed for 83.
Shakeel, on the other hand, went on to complete his century and helped Pakistan cross Sri Lanka’s first-innings total by sharing crucial partnerships with lower-order players. At the time of compiling this report, Pakistan were on 432 for 8 with Shakeel unbeaten on 190, and giving him company in the middle was Naseem Shah.
Aamer Sohail’s sly dig at Naseem Shah:
As Naseem Shah joined Saud Shakeel in the middle, Aamer Sohail could not stop himself from taking a dig at the young pacer. It was his fellow commentator Ramiz Raja who started it all by saying that Naseem Shah has the ability to make his batting better.
Naseem Shah did well to ensure that Shakeel continues his fine job with the bat. At the time of compiling this report, he had added 86 runs for the ninth wicket with Shakeel. The fast bowler has already played more than 50 balls and has not really played any loose shots. As Naseem Shah was fighting it out, Ramiz Raza said on-air:
“Naseem does not have any problem developing the batting muscle.”
In reply, Aamer Sohail came up with a comment that is bound to raise a number of eyebrows. The former cricketer took a sly dig at Naseem as he said: “He needs to develop another muscle, the brain muscle. He will become a better cricketer and bowler.
