Former India batsman Virender Sehwag lavished praise on Virat Kohli for his match-winning knock against Punjab Kings on Sunday (April 20) in the ongoing IPL 2025.
Two days after the five-wicket loss against Punjab Kings at their home ground, RCB avenged the loss in style.
Kohli bosses another chase
The Bengaluru-based outfit thrashed the Shreyas Iyer-led side by seven wickets in their backyard. RCB completely dominated the proceedings and returned to winning ways with an emphatic win.
Batting first, PBKS were off to a good start with their openers adding 42 runs in quick time.

However, they lost both the openers as well as their captain in quick time to find themselves reeling at 68/3. PBKS just could not recover after that and eventually finished their innings on 157/6 in 20 overs.
In reply, RCB chased down the total inside 19 overs by losing a solitary wicket. After Phil Salt was out for just 1, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal scored fifties to put RCB in the driver's seat. Padikkal departed for 61, but Kohli stayed till the end, scoring an unbeaten 73 to take his team home.
Virender Sehwag praises Virat Kohli:
Virender Sehwag heaped praise on Virat Kohli for his match-winning performance against PBKS. While Kohli has faced criticism from several quarters for his strike-rate in T20s, Sehwag pointed out that no other batsman can do what Kohli does in the shortest format of the game.
The Indian great stated that, unlike other batters, Kohli makes sure to stay till the end and take his team home.
"See, someone will hit a better shot than Kohli. Someone will hit a better six or a better four. But what he does, no one else does that. So, this is what we have to learn from him," Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
"When a match is like this, where the strike rate doesn't matter, stay not out in that situation, score runs, and ensure that your team wins. And he ensures in these 160-170 matches that 'I would keep playing and I would finish the game'.
"Not just for the franchise, but he has also won many games single-handedly for the Indian team. This is why Virat Kohli is such a big player and he is called a legend or 'GOAT' because he doesn't let the match go so easily," he added.
Kohli was also adjudged the Player of the Match for his knock. He is currently the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL 2025. The right-handed batsman has scored 322 runs in 8 games with the help of four fifties.
