BCCI President Sourav Ganguly along with Secretary Jay Shah has laid the foundation stone for the country’s new National Cricket Academy In Bengaluru. The work went underway with the top BCCI officials giving the green signal for the same.

On Monday, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, Secretary Jay Shah and other office bearers along with NCA director VVS Laxman laid the foundation stone for the new complex in Bengaluru.

“Laid the foundation stone for @BCCI’s new NCA. It is our collective vision to have a Centre of Excellence which nurtures talent and supports the cricket ecosystem in. Jai Hind! @SGanguly99 @ThakurArunS @ShuklaRajiv @VVSLaxman281,” Jay Shah tweeted.

Sourav Ganguly Led BCCI Officials Gives Green Signal To New NCA

Since the NCA was established first in 2000, it has been running from the premises of the M Chinnaswamy stadium. The Karnataka State Association granted BCCI Ground B to run the activities. It has space for outdoor practice and indoor practice facilities along with state-of-the-art gymnasium.

The new complex will provide much better facilities to its players. It will have a 16,000 sqft gym, 40 practice pitches, 243 rooms, an open-air theatre, an indoor training facility besides a creche for cricketers’ children.

The new academy will have playing areas for football, squash, badminton, basketball, tennis, cycling track, a temperature-controlled pool will be present. Along with that it will have added facilities like the ATM, salon, pharmacy, courier service and banks near 40-acre land in Devanahalli near the Bengaluru international airport. The BCCI acquired the land in 2017 with an eye to set up the new academy. The area near Devanahalli was chosen due to its close proximity to the Banglore airport.

VVS Laxman has taken over as the BCA head after Rahul Dravid was appointed as the coach of the senior team. Since then, Laxman has worked in close quarters with the India U-19 squad and was also a part of their title-winning campaign in West Indies.
