Sourav Ganguly Tests Positive For Covid-19, BCCI President Admitted In Kolkata Hospital

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, he has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. According to reports, the BCCI President has been affected with mild symptoms.

This is the third time this year that Sourav Ganguly had been admitted to a hospital this year. Earlier in January, Ganguly was admitted to the hospital twice after facing chest pain. He also underwent angioplasty for the same.

Sourav Ganguly Admitted To Woodlands Hospital In Kolkata

Sourav Ganguly, who is currently in his home town Kolkata, has been admitted to Woodlands hospital of Kolkata. Ganguly is already vaccinated against covid-19 as he took his two doses of vaccination earlier. More details on the matter are awaited.

In January this year, the former Indian skipper was hospitalized as he suffered chest pain. While exercising in the gym at his home, he suffered a heart attack for which he was immediately taken to hospital.

Later, he underwent a right coronary angioplasty for the same. About 3 weeks later, he suffered similar chest pain and was again admitted to the hospital. He underwent another angioplasty. He was completely healthy in March and resumed his work.

Ganguly also went to UAE during IPL 2021 and ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Under his leadership, BCCI formed two new IPL teams for the next season in October. BCCI also appointed Rahul Dravid as India’s new head coach after Ravi Shastri retired from the post in November. Also, BCCI chose Rohit Sharma as the new ODI and T20I skipper for India, keeping Kohli’s captainship limited only to Tests.

In May this year, covid-19 led to the postponement of IPL 2021 after a few players and support staff members were found positive. The tournament was suspended with immediate effect and later concluded in UAE in September-October.

The Omnicron variant of covid-19 has created a big concern worldwide. Few African and European nations are widely affected by the Omnicron variant of covid-19 and the day-to-day cases have peaked. In India too, the covid-19 cases have started to rise. However, so far, omicron cases in India are about a few hundreds.
