South Africa will be facing Australia in the seventh game of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The game is scheduled to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday (February 25).
South Africa have started their campaign with a statement win over high-flying Afghanistan. The Temba Bavuma-led side thrashed Afghanistan by 107 runs to show their title credentials.
A century from Ryan Rickelton and fifties from Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen, and Aiden Markram propelled South Africa to a big total of 315/6. In reply, Afghanistan were all out for just 208 runs.
South Africa will now be eyeing another win over Australia to bolster their chances of qualifying for the semifinals. So as the Proteas gear up for the game, we are taking a look at the South Africa Playing 11 for the AUS vs SA game.
South Africa Playing 11 vs Australia- ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Match 7:
Openers: Ryan Rickelton (wk), Temba Bavuma (c)
South Africa could have a new opening combination for the upcoming game. With Heinrich Klaasen likely to return to South Africa Playing 11, Tony de Zorzi is expected to make way for him.
Ryan Rickelton got a chance for the first game only because of Klaasen's absence and he grabbed it with both hands. The wicketkeeper-batsman is unlikely to be dropped after the century and de Zorzi is expected to face the axe for the forthcoming game.
With de Zorzi set to be dropped, captain Temba Bavuma is expected to be promoted as an opener. He scored 58 runs in the first game and will look to lead his team from the front. On the other hand, Rickelton started his campaign with a fine century and will be eyeing another impressive outing.
Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Rassie van der Dussen, Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Wiaan Mulder, Marco Jansen
Rassie van der Dussen did not disappoint with the bat either. The right-handed batsman scored 52 runs off just 46 balls against Afghanistan. The South Africa Playing 11 is set to be bolstered by the return of Klaasen.
The hard-hitting batsman missed the previous game due to an elbow niggle and is expected to return to South Africa Playing 11. Aiden Markram had a good outing against Afghanistan as well. He scored an unbeaten 52 off just 36 balls to help his side finish the innings strongly.
Unlike most of South Africa's middle-order batters, veteran batsman David Miller failed to impress with the bat against Afghanistan. The veteran batsman was out for just 14 runs and will look to make amends in the upcoming game. Miller was out for just 14 runs.
Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder are expected to be the two all-rounders in the South Africa Playing 11. While both of them did not have much to do with the bat, they made an impact with the ball. Jansen picked up 1 for 32 while Mulder claimed 2 wickets for 36 runs.
Bowlers: Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi
South Africa are unlikely to change their bowling lineup after the win against Afghanistan. Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada are set to be the two specialist pacers in South Africa Playing 11 while Keshav Maharaj will be the lead spinner.
