South Africa Women’s will face Australia Women’s in a one-off Women’s cricket Test starting on February 15, Thursday at the WACA Stadium in Perth. The one-off Test will be followed by the series-deciding third ODI between the two sides which will be played on Saturday, February 10 at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney. South Africa Women’s played their last Test match against England in 2022 where Marizanne Kapp was in top form. She was also the Player of The Match against Australia Women’s on Wednesday during the second ODI.

South Africa Women’s Test squad has been announced and six players have received their maiden call-ups in Test cricket in the 14-member squad. Laura Wolvaard will be leading the South African side whereas Alyssa Healy will captain the Australian side. South Africa’s women’s team had never defeated Australia’s Women’s team in ODIs. The ODI victory against Australia came in the second ODI of the ongoing three-match ODI series and was their first victory against Australia in ODIs.

South Africa Women’s team has announced the 14-member squad with Chloe Tryon returning to the squad after missing the Test match against England back in 2022. The six members who received their maiden call-up are Tazmin Brits, Masabata Klaas, Ayanda Hlubi, Eliz-Mari Marx, Delmi Tucker and Mieke de Ridder. These six players can feature in Women’s Test cricket for the first time against Australia in Perth on February 15, Thursday.

“It’s a great opportunity for us as a team. It’s another one in a while again, so I think especially with the youngsters, they’re very excited to challenge themselves and to test their skills in the longer format and women’s cricket, it hasn’t been something we’ve been familiar with. We’ve had an opportunity to prepare for it and playing in an iconic stadium, it’s an opportunity that every youngster wants to grab and test their skills against, so it’s an exciting time for women’s cricket and one we’re looking forward to as a team,” head coach Hilton Moreeng said.

Marizanne Kapp Was In Sublime Form For South Africa

When South Africa Women’s played their last Test match against England, it ended in a draw but South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp was in sublime form as she scored 150 in the first innings and then 43 not out in the second innings. Kapp has been one of the best all-rounders to play for South Africa and she can be an important asset for her side against Australia in the one-off Test.

The experienced side of the squad comprises Laura Wolvaardt who’ll be leading the side and Sune Luus, Chloe Tryon, Anneke Bosch, and a few more players. It will be an interesting contest between Australia and South Africa as the Women’s team will face off against each other in whites and the battle will be fought with a red ball.
