India takes on South Africa in an all-format series consisting of three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches. The series kicks off with the T20Is on December 10 in Durban. The three T20Is will be played on December 10, 12 and 14. This will be followed by the three-match ODI series on December 17, 19 and 21.

The Test matches are a part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle. The first Test will be played from December 26-30 in Centurion. Cape Town hosts the second Test from January 3-7.

India lost the Test series 2-1 and were whitewashed in the ODI series the last time they went to South Africa in the 2021-22 season. Virat Kohli gave up Test captaincy after the first Test. KL Rahul led India in the remaining two Test matches both of which India lost.

“This is a good Indian team, but South Africa is tough to beat in South Africa. Centurion will probably suit South Africa and Newlands will probably suit India. I think it will be a good series, and it will come down to one or two sessions that one team might play better than the other. I think it would be a closely fought contest,” Jacques Kallis told PTI.

The senior players in the Indian team will make a comeback in the Test series against South Africa. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin amongst others are currently on a break.
