Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 15th match of IPL 2025 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Both teams have had a contrasting start to the tournament, with KKR getting off the mark against RR while SRH have lost their last two matches.
KKR made a strong comeback following their win over RR after starting the tournament with a loss against RCB in the season opener. The Ajinkya Rahane-led side delivered a solid performance against RR
Sunrisers Hyderabad are languishing at the bottom half of the points table with losses against DC and LSG after putting on a strong show against RR in the first match in Hyderabad, courtesy of an aggressive batting display.
This article provides the details of the playing 11 of the Sunrisers Hyderabad for their match against KKR scheduled to be played on Thursday, April 03, at 7:30 PM IST.
SRH Playing 11 vs KKR- IPL 2025, Match 15:
Openers: Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma
The left-handed opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma created havoc among bowlers with their explosive hitting in the first six overs in the last season but have not been able to replicate the same in the last couple of matches.
Abhishek, in particular, hasn't been able to set the stage on fire this season and has thrown his wicket away after getting good starts in the few matches he has played so far
Middle-Order Batters and All-Rounders: Ishan Kishan (wk), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, Abhinav Manohar, Aniket Verma
The Sunrisers Hyderabad batting lineup began the 2025 IPL season in the same manner in which they batted in the last season, with Ishan Kishan taking the aggressive route and scoring his maiden IPL century on his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The left-hander was well supported by middle-order batters Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy as Hyderabad posted a score of over 200 against RR.
But the story has not panned out the way SRH would have wanted, with the batting lineup failing miserably in the last two matches against DC and LSG, respectively. The Orange Army has failed to cross the 200-run mark on both occasions.
Having said that, the batting of Aniket Verma has been a positive for SRH despite back-to-back defeats, as the young batter has shown good strokeplay against spin in the middle overs
Bowlers: Pat Cummins (c), Harshal Patel, Mohammed Shami, Simarjeet Singh, Adam Zampa
SRH's bowling, led by experienced fast bowler Mohamed Shami, has lacked the venom that was on show during the last season, as Shami has struggled to find his rhythm. Other bowlers have also found it difficult to bowl in the right areas, which was considered the strength of the Pat Cummins-led side.
An experienced bowling attack, which includes the likes of Shami, Pat Cummins, Harshal Patel, and Adam Zampa, has looked clueless in the last two matches.
All things said, there is no denying the fact that Hyderabad's bowling lineup has been let down by their batters' inability to put big scores on the board, something which they are used to.
