SRH Playing 11 vs Punjab Kings- IPL 2024, Match 69

SRH takes on Punjab Kings in their last league game of IPL 2024 on Sunday, May 19 from 3.30 pm IST. They made it to the playoffs after a rained-out game against GT. However, a top-two finish is not in their hands now as many other results need to go their way. They need to beat Punjab and hope that RR loses to KKR and RCB beats CSK as well. 

This has been a season of two halves for Sunrisers Hyderabad. They won five out of their seven games. In the next half, they lost a bit of their way and lost to RCB and CSK. The 10-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants covered the losses, which was a killer blow to their campaign. 

Pat Cummins has done a terrific job leading the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has taken wickets and scored some crucial runs in the last few games including the match against Mumbai Indians.

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma continue to be their batting mainstays and a lot will depend on how they bat in the last match against Punjab Kings. The bowling group too has done a good job.

The lack of good spinners has made SRH stick to their seamers almost throughout the season. The seamers have delivered as well. SRH won their previous match against PBKS at Mullanpur. Playing at home in known conditions, they would like to win their final league game and secure their playoff spot. PBKS are already eliminated from the tournament.

Travis Head

Head will continue to open the batting for SRH. He has decimated bowlers up at the top of the order. He will look to do a similar job against PBKS. 

Abhishek Sharma 

The southpaw will open the batting along with Head. Together they have plundered opposition bowling attacks and have hit nearly 70 sixes together. Sharma has scored over 400 runs for the season. 

Nitish Reddy 

Reddy can slot in at three. The Hyderabad player has batted and bowled as well. He has scored nearly 250 runs for the season with an average of nearly 50 with two unbeaten knocks. 

Heinrich Klaasen (WK)

Klaasesn will slot in at four. The South African keeper-batter has been a revelation for SRH since IPL 2023. He has scored nearly 400 runs with a strike rate of almost 190. 

 Abdul Samad

Samad the hard-hitter will slot in at five. Despite low returns, he has been persisted by the SRH management in the lineup. He now has an opportunity with his team needing a cruial win in the last game. 

Shahbaz Ahmed 

The Bengal all-rounder will slot in at six. He has scored at a quick pace whenever he has got opportunities with the bat. He is a decent bowler as well who can contribute with the ball. 

Marco Jansen

The South African all-rounder will slot in at seven. He can swing the new ball and can score some crucial runs lower down the order. He is in South Africa's T20 World Cup squad and would like to have a good game. 

Pat Cummins (C)

Cummins has been good as a skipper for SRH. He has made some brilliant calls and has been amongst the wickets for the franchise. He is inching closer to 20 wickets for the season. 

Bhuvneshwar Kumar 

The ever-reliable Bhuvi will slot in at eight. He has bowled a tight line and length and has taken a wicket more often than not inside the powerplay. His swing of the ball inside the powerplay will be good to watch.

T Natarajan 

Natarajan will slot in at nine. He has taken the most wickets for SRH this season so far. He is also inching closer to 20 wickets for the season. Unfortunately, the left-arm seamer missed out on India's World Cup squad. 

Mayank Markande 

Markande concludes the likely SRH XI for their match against PBKS. SRH might want to keep Maro Jansen in their XI, so the Sri Lankan spinner  Vijayakanth Viyaskanth might miss out. 

Impact Sub: Jaydeb Unadkat

The left-arm seamer Unadkat might be the Impact Sub for SRH. He went past 100 IPL wickets in the previous match against Gujarat Titans. The veteran pacer has now played for 8 teams in the tournament.
