The SRH vs CSK IPL 2024 match will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 5. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST and is the second home game for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Both teams are heading into this match on the back of a loss in their previous match. While SRH lost to Gujarat Titans, CSK lost to Delhi Capitals. CSK are placed third heading into this match while SRH is sixth on the table.

Team Analysis

Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH started their campaign with a loss against Kolkata Knight Riders. They then won their next match against Mumbai Indians, before losing their previous match against Gujarat Titans. Despite losing the previous match, their batting is looking stronger than their bowling. The likes of Travis Head, Heinrich Klaassn, Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, and Aiden Markram form the batting core.

With the ball, the pace attack looks good with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Pat Cummins leading the attack. Mayank Marrkande is the only specialist spinner while there is no update on Wanindu Hasaranga joining the team. The absence of the Lankan spinner is making the spin attack look weak. SRH has won just five matches against CSK and with a good batting lineup needs to maximize the home conditions.

Chennai Super Kings

CSK started with back-to-back wins at home. However, they lost their very first away game against Delhi Capitals. The batters could not chase down the 192 required for victory. Skipper Rututaj Gaikwad has not scored as many runs as he would have liked in the first three games. Rachi Ravindra has given the team consistent starts.

MS Dhoni batted in the last match much to the happiness of the CSK fans despite the team losing. CSK’s favorable track record against SRH will give them the confidence to beat them yet again. Overall in 19 games the Super Kings have won 15 and also the last four out of the five games. SRH, however, won the last game played at home against CSK back in 2019.

Key Factors

Pitch Conditions

The Hyderabad pitch has been a batting-friendly venue in the first few games. SRH posted 277 against Mumbai Indians and 162 against Gujarat Titans. Though they could not post 200 against GT, the pitch was still a good one for batting as the Titans proved in the chase. The pitch will be once again a good one for batting and the good batters from both sides might make it a high-scoring contest.

Form and Fitness

Form-wise SRH batters look to be in better form than the CSK batters who have failed to maximize most of the opportunities. Both sides have big hitters in their ranks and the placid Hyderabad pitch has all the making of a high-scoring contest. There are no fitness concerns heading into the contest for both teams. There were rumors that MS Dhoni likely to miss the previous match but he played.

Heading into this game CSK will miss the services of Mustafizur Rahman. As per reports in Cricbuzz, the pacer has returned to Bangladesh to process the visa to be able to participate in the T20 World Cup. He might also miss CSK’s next match against KKR on April 8. For SRH, there is still no timeline for Wanndu Hasaranga’s expected return. Reports in ESPN Cricinfo last week said that his return might be delayed by a week more as he is set to consult doctors for his chronic heel pain.

Tactical Acumen

Pat Cummins’ leadership especially against a team like CSK will be an interesting observation. Delhi Capitals targeted them with pace in Vizag in the previous game that limited their run-scoring opportunities. SRH might look to do something similar. Ruturaj Gaikwad and MS Dhoni should have their plans in place to tackle SRH.

SRH vs CSK Match Prediction- Who Will Win Today’s IPL Match? IPL 2024, Match 18

CSK’s dominant record against SRH keeps them ahead in the contest. Overall they lead the head-to-head count 14-5 in 19 games and 4-1 in the last five games.

Conclusion

After the loss against Gujarat Titans, this is SRh’s ideal opportunity to dominate and win against CSK at home. They have a dominant batting lineup that needs to do the bulk of the job to win the game for the side. In case they bat past, they must post beyond 200. In case they change, they should back themselves to change anything.
