Young SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has secured a lucrative deal during the Andhra Premier League (APL) 2024 auction. Nitish Kumar Reddy has become the most expensive player in the history of the Andhra Premier League.

Nitish Kumar was retained by SRH for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at his base price of Rs 20 lakh. Nitish had an underwhelming performance in the IPL 2023. He played only two games without batting and conceded 54 runs in five wicketless overs.

However, the 20-year-old has seized his second chance and emerged as a vital player for SRH in IPL 2024. The young batter has played a significant role in the team's impressive performance this season. SRH has secured seven victories out of 12 matches.

Following a stellar performance this IPL season, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been picked for a substantial amount of INR 15.6 lakhs by the Godavari Titans. The all-rounder is now the most expensive player in the history of the Andhra Premier League.

Reddy had an unforgettable reaction upon seeing his name during the auction, and a video capturing this moment has since gone viral across social media platforms on the internet.

Reddy was picked up by the Godavari Titans during the auction in Vizag on May 16. The tournament will feature six teams competing for the championship, including the Bezawada Tigers, Coastal Riders, Rayalaseema Kings, Vizag Warriors, and Uttarandhra Lions.

Nitish Kumar Reddy has emerged as a crisis man for SRH, consistently delivering crucial runs when needed. The right-handed batter has scored 239 runs in seven innings at an impressive average of 47.80 and an equally impressive strike rate of 152.22.

The young batter has hit two half-centuries with a best score of 76 runs against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). He has taken three wickets at an average of 28.67 and an economy rate of 9.38, with the best bowling figures of 2/17 against the Delhi Capitals (DC).

Suddenly SRH Retained Me - Nitish Kumar Reddy

The 20-year-old cricketer recently expressed his desire to be a match-winner. He mentioned feeling surprised when SRH retained him. Reddy highlighted the importance of mental preparation, particularly in adverse situations.

"Even I thought no one is going to pick me and suddenly SRH retained me. I was like, 'I have to work a little more', ” Reddy told ESPNcricinfo.

"We know it's not going to work every time. It's not like we will go hard on opponents all the time, but one bad game, one bad ball, such things happen and we have to be prepared for early wickets. You can see at first we scored huge runs and after that we collapsed. So I've been thinking at the back of my mind for this situation that if the team is going to collapse, I have to be ready for that situation," Reddy added.

Reddy had his chance to display his skills in IPL 2024 when he stepped in for Mayank Agarwal during the match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He made an impactful contribution by scoring 14 runs off eight balls, including a match-winning six off Deepak Chahar.
